The Steelers are delighted to announce the promotion of Alex Mackenzie-Grist from Offensive Coordinator to Head Coach of the Under 17 programme for the 2020 campaign following the departure of Ste Kilvington from the role.

I’m really excited to take on the Head Coach role for the upcoming season, after a great year as OC last season. I’m excited to see this young, bright team reach their potential, and am really looking forward to working with a great coaching staff again

The committee acted quickly to appoint Coach Mackenzie-Grist following Coach Kilvington’s resignation.

After a few tumultuous years at Under 17 level, the key driver for the committee was stability of the programme. We thank Ste Kilvington for all of his hard work this past season, in particular the efforts he made in assisting two of our players reach the NFL Academy. Continuity heading in to the new campaign led us to reach out to Alex immediately, and we’re delighted that he has accepted the offer to lead the team in to the new season.

Coach Mackenzie-Grist will now work on assembling his coaching staff ahead of pre-season training.

The Under 17 programme will return to training in the New Year, with details on rookie sessions coming in the next couple of weeks.
